Limerick U20 hurling Munster Champions; Captain Jimmy Quilty, Sean O Neill and the entire panel and management deserve great credit and huge congratulations for this fantastic result, beating Tipperary 1 25 to 2 18.  Congratulations to the Quilty, O’Sullivan and O’Neill families and friends. 

U17 Celtic Challenge quarter final V North Cork, congrats to Jack Carroll, Anthony Kelly and Blake O’Doherty who played with Limerick Treaty losing 1 18 to 0 12

Primary Game v Tipperary hurling, congratulations to Jack Roche who was number 11 on the team and played very well.

Senior hurlers V Dromin Athlacca lost 2 17 to 0 15.  Junior hurlers V Garryspillane, lost 2 13 to 0 15.

Results: a win for the seniors over Glenroe 1-19 to 0-19. A point separated us from Camogue Rovers in the junior, unfortunately we lost 1-16 to 1-17.

Fixtures: the juniors play Garryspillane on Friday 6th at 7pm in Knocklong. And the Seniors play Dromin Athlacca in Athlacca on Saturday 7th at 7pm

The u15 boys and girls are preparing for the Regional Feile competitions and we wish them the very best.

Congratulations to all who took part in the Scoil Pol musical Sister Act. Excellent production.

The Limerick U20’s are in the Munster final v Tipperary on Wednesday 4th in the Gaelic Grounds and we are delighted that Jimmy Quilty is Captain of the team, and to Jimmy along with Sean O Neill and the panel of players and management we wish ye the very best of luck on Wednesday. Luimneach abu.

Well done to Conor Nunan who took part in the football primary game at half time in the Limerick Senior footballers match v Clare and congratulations to all involved in the fantastic victory for Limerick football.

Congratulations to the Blackrock Effin u15 girls who beat Na Piarsaigh 4-06 to 1-03 in the Div 2 Feile final. They now represent Limerick in the Regional finals as do our u15 boys in Div 3 of Feile.  Well done girls, and the very best of luck to the girls and boys in the Regional Feile finals.

U20 hurlers beat Cork and we congratulate Captain Jimmy Quilty and panel member Sean O’Neill and the team and management. Next up Waterford.

The U17 Celtic Challenge v Cork also saw local involvement with Jack Carroll, Anthony Kelly and Blake O’Doherty in action.

Limerick Senior hurlers continue winning ways beating Waterford and congratulations to Nickie Quaid of neighbouring club Effin on his 50th match for Limerick Senior hurlers.

21st April

The U15 hurlers played Rathkeale in the Feile C final on Monday 18 th . At full time it was 6-06 each and after extra time our super U15’s won.
U20 Limerick Hurling V Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn in Cork on Wednesday 20th, and we extend the very best of luck to Jimmy Quilty Captain of the team and Sean O’Neill and the team and management.
Limerick Senior hurlers had a great win V Cork. The Limerick minor hurlers and footballers lost and the U20 footballers also had a win last week. Best of luck all in their next outing.
Blackrock Senior hurlers continue a good run with our third win from three in the All County league, beating Effin on Tue last. 0 17 to 0 14. On Tuesday 19 th we play Bruff in Kilfinane at 6.30.

Awards night, was on Saturday 16 th and the Junior B County Championship winners were honoured for their great year in 2021. David O’Flaherty Captain said it was nice to be winning and thanked everyone for coming and making the night a success. Man of the match awards were made to David O’Flaherty for the county ¼ final, Niall Moloney for the county semifinal, James O’Doherty for the county final and Gavin O’Loughlin for the Munster ¼ final. The Senior hurlers were honoured for their Senior County Cup win of 2020 and the Junior B hurlers who won the South league and championship in 2018.

13th April

Results, good win for the Senior hurlers v Garryspillane, 2-18 to 2-14, and a loss for the junior hurlers, v Bruff 0-10 to 2-13. Blackrock Effin u14’s lost out to Templeglantine/Knockaderry 1-01 to 4-03.

Congratulations to Jimmy Quilty, Captain of the Limerick U20’s and his team and panel including Sean O’Neill on a fortuitous win over Clare last Wednesday.

U17 Limerick Celtic Challenge, v Waterford, congratulations to Jack Carroll and Anthony Kelly who were involved. Congratulations to Adam Kelly who won the Con and Annie puc fada in the greyhound track.  Congratulations to Jack Roche, Darragh Gleeson and Conor Nunan who played in the Sarsfield cup during the week.

Primary game, Jack Roche will play in the hurling and Conor Nunan will play in the football at half time in the upcoming Limerick v Cork hurling and Limerick v Clare in the football. Best wishes to the boys and also to the Limerick senior teams. 

Membership has closed and the limited number of stand tickets the club got were drawn for members who requested to be in the draw.  If you are a paid up member and have not got communication from me please contact me.

GAA national Club draw takes place in June, tickets available for €10. The money raised will go to upgrading the fencing between the pitch and the walking track.

Results; Senior hurling league v Knockainy – good win for our hurlers, 1-24 to 0-18, good start to the league. 9 points for free taker Paudie Leahy, 4 from frees, 1 goal and 3 points for Ruairi O Shaughnessy, 3 points for Sean O’Neill, 2 points for Marty Farrell, Colm O Keeffe and Donnocha Leahy, and a point for Kevin Palmer. Congratulations to Dylan Dawson captain for 2022.

Junior hurling league v Bruree – a loss by 2 points, 1-15 to 1-13. 8 points for free taker Donnacha Leahy, 4 from play, 3 points for Declan Gilligan, 2 points for Barry O Shaughnessy and a goal from a sideline cut made its way to the net thanks to Seamie Ryan.

There was a win for the Blackrock Effin  Junior A camogie team v Adare 6-17 to 3-07.

1st April

Fixtures: the Senior hurlers start the Senior South league on Saturday 2nd April V Knockainy in Knockainy at 6.30.  The newly promoted Junior A hurling team play Bruree in the Junior South league on Sunday 3rd at 12.00 in Bruree.

The Junior A ladies started the year on Sunday 27th March V Templeglantine and play Adare on Sunday 3rd April.

Congratulations to the Limerick Senior Footballers who have been promoted to Division 2 of the National league for next year.  They beat Fermanagh in the Gaelic grounds and now play Louth in the division 3 league final on Saturday 2nd in Croke Park.

Conor O’Tighearnaigh of the Connolly clan in Ardpatrick won a Grand Slam with Ireland u20 rugby team last week.  Congratulations.

Oisin O Callaghan resumes his downhill bike racing this week, best wishes.

The Con and Annie Kirby memorial derby started this week at the dog track in Limerick and our dog was Balldague Belle who unfortunately came 5th so our involvement in the competition is over. Many thanks to J P and Noreen McManus for their continued sponsorship .

The Senior and Junior hurlers take to the field in early April in the All County leagues and the U19’s are in competition in May.  We should have a Master fixture list shortly.  Will keep ye all informed.

Our Junior B Hurling journey for 2021 has come to an end, with a loss to Scarriff in the Munster Semi final with a score line of 0-09 to 2-11. Congratulations to our Junior hurlers on a fantastic win over Four Mile Water of Waterford in the Junior B Munster hurling quarter final on a scoreline of 5-11 to 2 05.  Gavin O'Loughlin scored 3 goals and man of the match Dave Healy scored 2 goals ensuring we had a comfortable win. Next up is the Scarriff team from Clare next Saturday at 12md.

We are delighted to announce that we have received over €106,000 in the Sports Capital Grant. we hope to start work on the facilities soon.

16th February

All roads lead to Killeedy this Saturday for the quarter finals of the Munster Junior B hurling competition. We play the Waterford champions Four Mile Water at 12md. Best of luck to David O Flaherty and his team who have done us proud this year.
Admission is pay on the gate, €10 adults, €5 OAP’s and students, U16 free. All support would be very welcome.

On February the 19th our junior hurlers play the Waterford champions Four Mile Water in the quarter final of the junior B Munster tournament in Kileedy at 12md. The very best of luck to all involved.

26th January

We have got our dates for the Junior B Munster Championship. We play Four Mile Water on Saturday the 19th February at 12md in Kileedy. The Semifinal is on Saturday 26th February and if we win our Quarter final the opposition will be Scariff, Co Clare. The Munster final is on Saturday 12th March and the other semi final pairing is Clonoulty/Rossmore of Tipperary and Belgooly of Cork. 

The very best of luck to the newly promoted Junior A’s and their management team who are working hard in the run up to the Championship.

The Master fixture list for the club year will be available in the next week or two, the  All county league should be starting at the beginning of April. It was lovely to be down in the field on Sunday morning and see multiples of players training.  Looking forward to the year ahead.

Our fabulous President Donie O’Sullivan has decided to hang up his lotto books and has retired as a lotto promotor. Donie has been a marvellous servant to the club for many many years as a hurler, field caretaker, selector, Baron, and long time lotto seller.  We wish Donie many years of comfortable retirement. And many many thanks for all your contributions to the club over the years. Enjoy your time now as a supporter.

Hard luck to Scoil Pol Senior Camogie team who lost the Munster C final on Saturday to Roscrea Community school.

Well done to the Scoil Pol students who came first in the Social and Behavioural Sciences in Ireland in the Young Scientist competition, and to all the students who did so well.

Well done to the Limerick Hurlers v Kerry on Sunday, comprehensive win, best of luck v Clare next weekend.

The draw for the Junior B Munster championship has taken place, we are playing Nire/FourMileWater, of Waterford in the Quarter final, the winner plays Scariff of Clare, the other semifinal is Clonoulty/Rossmore of Tipperary V Belgooly of Cork. However the championship has been postponed for several weeks due to the current high numbers of covid infection.

Unfortunately cancelled this year was the Long Puck due to have been held on the first January, it was cancelled for health and safety reasons due to high levels of covid.

Congratulations to Scoil Pol who recently defeated St Clements to win the Post Primary Senior Football Neil McDonnell Cup final.
